The National Golf Course Owners Association of Canada under its Golf Gives initiative wants to show Haiti that the Canadian golf industry, golfers and supporters care. If you haven’t yet donated to the relief effort, we are asking that you consider supporting the NGCOA Canada’s fundraising initiative with all funds raised donated to the International Child Care (ICC), a not for profit health development agency that has been on the ground in Haiti for over 40 years.
Jeff Calderwood, CEO of the NGCOA has stated....... "Because we feel that the children of Haiti are the ones to suffer most from this devastation, both now and in the future, we have chosen the ICC as our charity of choice. The ICC is one of Haiti’s leading health sector non-governmental organizations whose base is at Grace Children’s Hospital in Port-au-Prince, a pediatric hospital. ICC’s programs in Haiti focus primarily on maternal and child health, TB and HIV/AIDS and provide essential primary health care for over 200,000 people each year."
The Federal Government has recognized the ICC as one of the many organizations who will receive matching funds for their Haiti relief efforts. But in order to double the amount raised by the Canadian golf industry, golfers and partners we must submit funds raised by February 12, 2010 so that they can be matched.
For more information on the ICC please visit their website at
www.internationalchildcare.org.
Dr. John Yates, a medical doctor from Oakville, ON and ICC’s Canadian Project Manager is on the ground now assisting with the relief effort. CTV’s W5 travelled to Haiti with Dr. Yates following the earthquake and are scheduled to air a special report on Haiti and the ICC on January 22.
IF YOU WISH TO SUPPORT THE NGCOA APPEAL AND DONATE TO HAITI
Please remember that time is of the essence to ensure funds are matched by the Federal Government. All funds raised for the earthquake relief in Haiti must be received by February 12, 2010.
